As we head into the 3rd anniversary and marathon weekend, I don't know what the days will bring. I know I'll feel it on some level, I know there will be emotional moments. But, I'm so unbelievably grateful for where I am when I look back at where I was. I'm grateful for the amazing people in my life. I'm grateful for the inspiration I get from the marathon survivor community, full of resilient, driven and caring people. I'm grateful for having this experience that has taught me and will continue to teach me so much. When you're in what you feel is the pit of despair, when you want to give up, always remember that you can get out. There is light at the end if you keep going, if you believe and have faith in yourself. Remember, it is ALWAYS in YOUR hands to create a happy, peaceful and beautiful life while you're here, even if it takes some work and time. Be patient. We aren't here for a long time but we can make the time we have mean something.
A friend who spoke at Victoria's memorial shared a song with us that Victoria loved. It was perfect for her memorial, perfect for the bombing, and perfect for anyone with any struggle on any day. It's below if you want to take a listen.
